A Card for Mom

Stamps: Flower, Savvystamps.com, Sentiment: Hero Arts

Hi readers! Happy Mother's Day! I have quite a few stops to make today, in addition to attending morning service, but I wanted to share the card that I am giving to my mom today. To be honest, I'm a little nervous...See, although I've been making cards for quite some time, I have yet to give one of them to her...now, did I hear a gasp out there?  I just hope she likes it...So on to the card. It is a center step card, covered with paper from My Mind's Eye Blush Collection. Here's a side view:

I thought the paper would be a good choice because it already has glittery bling on it! Love me some sparkly, lol...I don't have to add a lot of extra embellishment! But here is what I used to color the image:

Distress ink: Tim Holtz, Spun Sugar, Spica pen, Buttermilk...sounds like a cooking recipe doesn't it?
Copics: YG25, YG17, and R59. Not pictured: Red stickles (used on the flower)

This was my first card of this type, and it was really easy to make! My hubby liked it and wanted one for his mom too. If you've never made this style Splitcoaststampers has a tutorial and video, but I followed one from Your Next Stamp. I loved it because the poster gave measurements RIGHT on the pics!! When trying something like this, I NEED that, lol...As you'll see from these two links, this card style can be adapted to any theme! Well, I have to get myself together, find an envelope for this card, and be out the door in a bit! But like always, thanks for coming by to see me! Take care, and come by again real soon!
Happy Mother's Day...And That's All She Wrote!

  2. Wow - that is really BEAUTIFUL! Although I'm an avid card-maker, I've never tried making any that pop out or do anything special. I think I need to watch those videos! Thanks for inspiring me!

    1. Thank you, Tracie! I felt the same way, and I've made cards for a little while now. But when I first saw a card like this, I was blown away! I still wasn't sure I could do one...However, the tutorials made it easy! Give it a try, and let me know so I can stop by for a peek!
