(Click on the image for a better view)
Patterned Paper: Scenic Route, Letter Dies: Quickutz, Stardust Grand
A few years ago, my grandmother and I started a little fall tradition of visiting our farmer's market for Pumpkin Day. There are pumpkin dishes to sample, pumpkin decorating contests by kids and adults, and a prize for the biggest pumpkin! I took lots of pics the first year, unfortunately aggravating my grandma, whose really camera shy. After buying a REALLY big floral arrangement as a peace offering to prevent from being disowned, I decided that I wouldn't take pics of grandma (that she knew of ;D). So the next year, I focused on all of the great flowers and produce we saw that day. This layout was inspired by an Allison Davis sketch. I realize that there is a LOT of color going on here, but I decided to use the fall colored papers anyway instead of changing the pics to black and white or neutralizing the background papers...I can't help it, I'm addicted to fall color! I may add a few embellishments and a little journaling to even it out, but not sure yet. I'd love to hear your suggestions, so leave them in the comments, okay?

Before I sign off, I do have a giveaway...yes, blog candy!! Since Halloween is over, its off to the races with creating holiday cards (have you started yet?), so I'm giving away a little something to help you with that:

Note: Random black piece of cardstock not included, lol
It's the 6 x 6 Once Upon a Christmas paper pad from Little Yellow Bicycle! I really like this paper! Its a great size for cards and/or a mini album, and to top it off--a matching set of cardstock stickers. For a chance to win, all you have to do is leave me a comment telling me what activity you look forward to most during the fall! (Note that only comments for this post will be eligible for this prize.) And there will be a blog hop gift, so be sure to comment on all of the blogs so you don't miss out! I do thank you for visiting my blog today! I love it when people drop by, so come back to visit soon! Here's a listing of all of the blogs participating in this weekend's hop:

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

To commemorate Scraps of Color's 8th birthday, I, along with some talented paper crafters, have teamed up to share projects based on the celebrations in our lives. We wanted to have this special blog hop to celebrate this great crafting community where we laugh, play, and create together and encourage and inspire one another. Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Monday, Oct. 8 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

Now that all of the guidelines have been straightened out, let’s get this birthday party started! If you’re starting the hop here, I recommend checking out the SOC E:spire blog first, then work your way through. But if you’re stopping by from Francine's blog,  then you’re in the right place! Today I’m sharing a layout! Yes, you heard me right, lol. I’m pretty excited about it! =D

The little guy in the photos, seen in the photos on the left with his dad Carlos, is my little cousin Elijah from his first birthday party last summer. I got to take a few photos that I hope to share with him when he’s a little older. The page layout was inspired by an Allison Davis sketch (Do you use her sketches? Love them!) Here are a few closer pics:

Patterned Paper: TPC Studio, Border Punch: Fiskars
Dies: Quickutz Blossom Mini

I matted my photos (yep, I’m ol’ school) to pop the pics off from the patterned paper, then embellished the pages with goodies from Me and My Big Ideas. This was my first layout in a LLOONNGG while…I know; please don’t take my scrapbooker club card, lol. However, this page came together so quickly, I hope it won’t be my last! I hope you enjoyed viewing this LO as much as I enjoyed sharing it with all of you! But before you go, I got a GIVEAWAY!!

That's right folks! You have the chance to win a MAMBI paper pack featuring some of the embellishments I used on today's layout...PLUS a bonus surprise gift! All you have to do is leave me a comment below telling me about a favorite birthday memory! Or if you just want to leave me a comment about this post, that's cool too! (Only comments on this post will be eligible for this prize.)

Also, there is a SOC blog hop gift for one lucky reader!  Here is it, behind curtain number 2...The rules for that contest is posted at the top of this post, so be sure to check that out!

Thank you for stopping by today! It was great having you visit my blog! I know you are excited and ready to  continue celebrating SOC's 8th anniversary with us! So here's a list of all the blogs:

Hot Fun in the Summer Time!

This weekend marks the official start of summer--days filled with a little travel, fun, and relaxation with family and friends! So to celebrate, I, along with some talented crafters, have teamed up to share projects that display summer fun! Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Mon, June 25 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wed, June 27.

Now if you started at this blog, I am the last blogger on the hop list! However, you can find Tina's blog here to get this summer blog party started from the beginning! But if you're dropping by from Princess' blog, you're in the right place. Today I want to share my Summer 2012 accordion book!

Patterned Paper and Embellishments: MAMBI
Dies: Quickutz Blossom Mini, Rockstar Fonts

Behind the Scenes: Summer isn't my favorite season--the summers get really hot and humid here in the south. However, with all of the fun events and everyday stuff that comes along with summer, I have embraced it and now really look forward to it! The hubby and I don't travel much, so I opted to create a small album to capture a sampling of our big and little summer memories. Here's some pics of the interior and back cover:

Side One:

Side Two:

Back Cover:
Sticker: Little Yellow Bicycle
I mounted stickers on pop dots to embellish the book. Also, I slipped a thin piece of cardboard between the album cover and the album front to prevent the ribbon from tearing the front cover--I think it helps with the stability too! I'm keeping the design simple for now, and plan to use small pics, like I did on this project. I'm looking forward to adding pictures to this little album over the summer! I hope that you'll come back to visit to see the completed project! But for now, you have a chance to win a paper pack with some of the papers and embellies featured in my album, along with a pack of Little Yellow Bicycle Cardstock Stickers! There are 68 sentiments in that set! All you have to do is leave a comment below telling me what you love most about summer! Or if you just want to leave comments about anything you've seen in this post, that's cool too! (Only comments on this post will be eligible for this prize.)

Also, there is a blog hop gift for one lucky reader! The rules for that contest is posted at the top of this post, so be sure to check that out! Meanwhile, here's a pic:

I'm sure you're ready to get your blog hop on, and check out more creations and more opportunities to win blog candy!! So here's the list for all the blogs:

Qadirah http://alilcraftydiva.blogspot.com
Kristen http://1206designs.com/
Cheryl http://onecraftyncpeach.blogspot.com <--You are here

So if this is your last stop, thanks for joining us for SOC's Hot Fun in the Summer Time blog hop! But don't make that run to the beach just yet...come back by this weekend, as some of the crafters will have more projects, and more fun to share! Blog candy winners will be posted on Wednesday, so come back to see if you've won, okay?
Have a great summer!...And That's All She Wrote!

Bucket List Mini Album

Hi everyone! In my last post, I shared the album Chauntelle made for the
bucket list mini album swap. So today, I wanted to pop in and share the album I made for her. I mentioned before that I haven't made a lot of mini albums. However, who could turn down the chance to do such a fun album! Here's a couple of pics:

Patterned Paper: Unknown, Dies: Ovals, Spellbinders, Title, Quickutz Eliza Mini
Border: Fiskars, Flower: Recollections.

Now I don't know about you, but there's just something about a "chunky"album! Love it!
Charm: Making Memories

I found this charm on clearance at Michaels! I really like it, so I'll have to go back and try to find a few more! Here are a few pages:

The first page was for Chauntelle's dream to open her own business. She can add a picture right on the brown mat, but also add pics or journaling to the tags underneath. I learned about the accordion tag pockets in this tutorial. The album was 5 1/2 x 8," so I wanted to give as much extra "real estate" as possible.

Patterned Paper: SEI, "Home" card: Jenni Bowlin, Chipboard Flourish: Bazzill
The next page has a slide out pocket. There are three in this album, and they were really cool to make! Since I made the album in a different size, I had to make the pockets from scratch instead of covering envelopes and using them. There's a tutorial for this on YouTube too. You can find it here

Patterned Paper: KI Memories, Dies: Quickutz, Rockstar Font

This page represents a dream of mine too--that dream craft room!! The quote came from one of those vellum sentiment sheets that I'm sure everyone has in their craft stash. I simply cut it out, put it on a piece of white cardstock so it would show up better against the other papers, embellished it with the eyelets, and matted it on the pink cardstock. I love this quote, and may use it again soon!

Well, that's all of the pages I am willing to share today...I'll leave the rest to Chauntelle to share if she decides to one day soon! But before I go, I wanted to share one last detail--the inside covers. That open space was a great opportunity to add some inspirational quotes. Maybe you'll like them too:
Stamps: Hero Arts, Ink Pad: Versacolor, Embossing Powder: Ranger

Stamps: Hero Arts, Embossing Ink: Versamark, Embossing Powder: Zing
I love these quotes! I hope that both of the albums I shared here will inspire you to make your own Bucket List, and your own album!
Thanks for stopping by!...And That's All She Wrote!

A SOC Mini Album Swap

Hi readers! I hope you're doing well! The weather here in NC has been really nice lately--temps reaching into the 70s and even the mid 80s, only dipping a bit in the last couple of days. Honestly, this has been the craziest March weather in a really long time! I think we have gone from winter straight into June, lol...I hope that you're having great days wherever you call home...

Today I wanted to share another album I received as part of a Mini Album swap over at Scraps of Color. This was a "Bucket List" themed swap, and Chauntelle was my partner! All of the participants were paired off, and required to send our partners ten items on our bucket list. Then we made pages from the items on the lists...too cool, right? To keep this post from getting too pic heavy, here's a sampling of this great album:

The poem on the cover is called Don't Quit. You can
read it here.

A couple of the items on my bucket list is to visit Venice and to take a cruise! So check out Chauntelle's pages:

The passport on the left is a neat little place for journaling!

Getting a puppy is also on my bucket list! Isn't that puppy (and this layout) too cute?

This page represents my dream of going back to school...

Sorry the lighting on this one is a little dark...but this page is for the dream of seeing a Broadway show in New York!

And for seeing sights on the streets of Paris!

But before I go, I have to learn French!

I love all of the pages in this album, but this is one of my favorites because Chauntelle added a pocket with French phrases inside. French was on one side, but if you flip the card over, it has the phrase in English!!

Finally, this page is for just putting on that black dress and heels for a night on the town!
(Don't giggle, I've never done that before...)

Isn't she fabulous? Love her!!

I am still drooling over this book!! Now I need to get busy on filling those pages up, and checking those items off my bucket list! I'm looking forward to it! Thanks again Chauntelle!! So what are some of the things on your list?

A Layout? Me?

Hi folks! I hope you're doing well! It's been a little crazy around here, as the holiday activities have already started up! However, I have a project to share with you--and yes, you read right! I DID a scrapbook page!! Although I LOVE scrapbooking (it was my first love in paper crafting), I just don't get to do it often because of so many other things in my schedule. You know the deal--lots of ideas, not enough time! Sometimes motivation and wondering how to get started play a role too. However, I plan on doing more scrapping in 2012, and wanted to get started a little early with this layout:

Dies: Quickutz Marisa and Blossom Mini

I scraplifted this layout from one done by dorito6778 over on 2Peas. I love how she captured what she was grateful for during the whole month of November. I also loved how she used the small pictures of big and small things she was thankful for in her daily life. The title was inspired by a song I grew up singing in church. Sorry for it being out of focus...I have to get used to photographing scrapbook pages. Here's a closer view of the pics and journaling:

I love the papers and embellishments used in the inspiration layout! I wish I had something similar, but I did use some papers from my stash. I'm thinking about possibly adding another photo and a date card too. What do you think? I'd love to hear what your thoughts...So if you're low on inspiration, check out other layouts and sketches, or even music titles. They are all great sources of ideas! What do you do/use when you're stumped or unmotivated to scrap?

Before I go, I want to thank dorito for sharing her page over in the 2Peas gallery! It definitely inspired me to scrap --something I haven't done in a long time. I may even make a page like this an annual thing! It was cool to write down my gratitude list, and reflect over the last month. Well, that's all I have for now! Thanks for stopping by to take a peek...And That's All She Wrote!

Vintage Christmas Mini

Hi blog readers! I hope you're having a great week! In my last post, I told you about Alycia's Winter Wonderland mini for the SOC mini album swap. So today, I wanted to stop in and share the album I made for the swap.

Patterned paper: Simple Stories, Dies: Spellbinders,  Rings: 7Gypsies
Distress Ink: Ranger, Key and Flower: Michaels, Stamp: Hero Arts

It's a vintage Christmas album! Now first of all, it was a little challenging because this was my first mini album...It's true--I've done accordion books and even a star album, but never a standard mini. I went back and forth on the size for a long time before deciding  on a 6x6. The Simple Stories 25 days of Christmas mini paper pack was a good fit, and since I didn't have to do lots of cutting, it came together pretty quickly. So here are a few more pics:

Embossing template: Sizzix, Dies: Spellbinders,
Distressing Ink: Ranger, Eyelet: Making Memories

The little square on the right unfolds into a mini accordion album
for extra space for journaling and pictures

Back cover

The album was a lot of fun to make! You know that means there will be more in the future!! I learned a few things that I want to try next time, and got to use some cool products, even a few from my stash! Is there something you'd like to try but haven't done it yet? Just jump in and take on a swap or challenge!!
 I'm glad I did!...Thanks for stopping by...And That's All She Wrote

The Scraps of Color Blog Hop

Thanks for joining in on the Scraps of Color Heritage Blog Hop! I, along with some talented crafters, have teamed up to bring you our memories and our history crafted with paper. Of course, a blog hop isn’t complete without blog candy and we have something nice awaiting a new crafter!! To be eligible, you must comment on all the blogs by Tuesday, March 8th-- from all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn next Friday.

Now that we have the guidelines straightened out, let's get hopping! I have a layout for this hop, and I'm excited because its the first one I've posted here on the blog!

This photograph is so precious to me because it is one of the few heritage photographs in my family! The little girls in the photo are my aunts Carolyn (right, at age 6) and Kaye (left, at age 5). The expressions on their faces totally shows their personalities, even then. And I love the neighbor's car parked in the background!!

Striped PP and Cardstock: Chatterbox, Powder Room
A closer look...The flower, pin, and embellished corners
were all finds at Archivers. Ribbon: JoAnn's Fabrics
Ink: Ranger Inks

The title was done with a Creating Keepsakes font CD,
the framing around the photo is a rub-on. (I rubbed the trim onto
a clear plastic, so it wouldn't be on the photo itself.)

This LO was my first try at the whole collage thing!I hope you've enjoyed viewing this LO as much as I enjoyed sharing it with all of you! And this is only the beginning of all the fun! Don't forget to stop by and visit the other participating blogs. I know they'll love to have you drop by and share comments on their cool craft creations!!
