It's been a minute...

Since I stopped by this space! Life has been at a breakneck pace, between changes in my job and in my family in the last year. However, I still love creating, reading craft blogs and interacting with other creatives on social media. So I want to work with this forum again. If you have followed this blog or visited, even once I thank you for your support over the years, and I hope you'll continue to stop by.

Now, onto today's project..If you're a member of Scraps of Color, you've seen the card. But I'm giving you the inside peek of the whole project!

This altered frame and card set was one I made for a friend's mother. She wanted to give her husband a special gift for their anniversary. Other than a frame from The Dollar Store, all of the bling and paper were from Michaels' Recollections line.

Once the frame was done, pulling papers from the same paper pack and copic colors for a matching card kept the process easy. This gatefold card is 5x7 (or about the size of a A7). The image was an easy choice for me, Lil Marriage by Robert Jackson. It's amazing to me, as this image reminds me of the celebrating couple! Here's a peek of the inside:

Well, that's all I have for you today. But for I go, I have to say how great it feels to share with you again. I really hope to come back soon, and hope you will too!

Super Bowl Cards

Hey everyone! It's been quite some time! Hope you're doing well! I've been away from crafting for a little while, but I really want to get back into the swing of things. A few years ago, I created some Super Bowl cards using the colors from that year's teams. So with the big game this past weekend, and Meljen's Design's Team Spirit challenge, I figured I would give it a try!. Here's a look:

This card is inspired by colors for the Seattle Seahawks, and the sketch I used was from the Fusion Card Challenge.

To be completely honest, I was going to only create the first card...I just figured the Seahawks would win again...or so I hoped. I shared my coloring in progress with friends on Facebook and Instagram and everything. However, as you know, the Patriots ended up coming back and winning the game...(Sigh) So I figured it was only fair to create a second card using New England's colors.

I thought this little bear was adorable, and even though he's wearing colors for the "other" team, I really like this one. The sketch is from a cool blog I just found called The Challenge. Here's a peek at the sketch:

In addition to the challenges posted above, and my personal Super Bowl theme, I'm sharing it for the Scraps of Color Anything Goes blogger challenge. It was great getting that card-making mojo working once more! As I mentioned in my original post, its cool working with different color combos. So if you find yourself stumped, just pull out colors from your favorite team and go for it! You never know, lol...Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A 50th Birthday Card

Digital Stamp: Robert Jackson, Die: Spellbinders, Embossing template: Cuttlebug

Hi everyone! Hope you've had a great weekend! I wanted to stop in with a quick post to share a 50th birthday card I made for a coworker/friend recently. She had a friend who was celebrating this milestone, and wanted to give her a custom card. We went through a few images, but she really liked this digital image named Ebony by Robert Jackson. You can't see it in the picture, but I used gold Stickles to give some sparkle to the earring. I'm still working on my coloring technique, but I loved coloring this image. So I'm sure you'll see this one again really soon! Thank you for stopping by and have a great week!

A Couple of Graduation Cards

Graduation season has come and gone, but I could make graduation cards year round! They are near the top of the list of occasions I love to create for! These were a couple of cards I made a little while ago to give to some of my graduating friends.
Digital image: Robert Jackson, Stamps: Sentiment-Verve
"Achieve"--unknown, Ribbon: Recollections
This one was for a young lady who graduated elementary school this year. Actually, I have tutored her for the last couple of years, and I was so proud of the work she put in this past year, I wanted to create something special for her.
Digital image: Robert Jackson, Sentiment: Hero Arts
I made my next card for a good friend that graduated with her masters! I wasn't with her on graduation day, but I'm sure she shouted just like the little lady in this stamp! She captures so much of my friend's personality!

Thanks for stopping by to visit! I hope you have a great weekend, and come by again soon!

My Love

Embossing Folder: Sizzix, Digital Stamp: Fine Arts by Robert Jackson
Sentiment: Studio G. Finished card size:  5" square.

Hi everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! There's only a little while left before it ends, but I wanted to stop by and share my hubby's V-day card. I've always bought him one, and had plans of purchasing one again this year. I could never really find images and sentiments that would work in putting a card together for him. That is, until I saw Mary Joyce's card over in the SOC gallery! Have you ever seen a card that makes you say, "Wow, I'd really like to make something like that?" Well, all of MJ's cards are like that, but I really loved this image and her colors and design.

After embossing the card front, I sprayed the doily with Silver Sugar Glimmer Mist. The image was a Robert Jackson digital called My Man II. Most of the coloring was done with copics, but the jeans were colored with Spectrum Noir Warm Grays. I had to wing it because I haven't been able to find "true black" copics in any of the local stores. Then she was topped off with a Buttermilk Spica Pen for her jewelry, and a dab of Glossy Accents on her shoes. Here's a little hint to my color inspiration:

It's a picture of hubby and me during our first Valentine's together...It was 2002 (which I hope explains the hair...What can I say? I was going through my Janet Jackson/JLo hair phase, lol). I love this photo, so I tried to match the colors in the image to them! Hubby got a kick out of it once I told him that! But with this card, I think I've started something...I think I'll be making him a card from now on, lol. Once again, special thanks to MJ for the inspiration! So switching gears, did you make your sweetie something special this Valentines?  Well, whether you spent it will your significant other or with friends and family, I hope it was great for you! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back again soon! Take care,

Two cards, one stamp and some cool news!

Hi blog readers! Hope you're having a great Sunday evening! I wanted to stop in to share two cards I made over the weekend. The image is a cute little groundhog from Meljen's Designs. Now I realize that Groundhog's Day has come and gone, but he was so cute, I didn't want to wait until next year to use this stamp.  Here's a closer look:

The first one is a Valentine's card using paper from Carta Bella's Devoted paper set. I don't have a pic here of the inside, but the whole sentiment says: I really DIG you...will you be my Valentine? The second one is an all-purpose card:

The paper here was from a DCWV paper stack! Love using that paper from my stash! As you probably can tell, the colors used on the groundhog here are different than what I used on the first card, plus I gave him his teeth back, lol. But I wanted him to stand out more from the soil around him, so I had to go with my "tans" then deepen the color. I tell ya, I don't know how you copic pros out there do it, lol

I love coming up with different uses and looks with my craft stuff and stamps, so I hope to make this a monthly feature! Let me know what you think! We'll see how it goes! Okay, so on to my cool news...I entered my Mimi Breast Cancer Awareness card (posted here) into the Lesia's 2012 Year in Review challenge over on Mema's Crafts and won! The prize was a gift certificate to Whimsy Stamps! So stop in and check out Mema's craft challenges...in fact she has a cool one going on right now through the end of the month! Plus, she loves it when new readers stop by!

Speaking of stopping by, thank you for stopping by here today!

Halloween card and a Winner

Hi folks! Happy Wednesday! Or to you who celebrate it, Happy Halloween! For the occasion and as part of Meljens' DT Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge, I wanted to share a card. I typically don't make Halloween cards since I'm usually starting them for Thanksgiving and Christmas by now. However, I saw this cute image on Meljen's facebook page and wanted to give it a try! I used the Buttons--Bling--Twine combo with materials I had in my stash! Here's a closer look at the bling:

I colored a couple of my bling with my V01 copic! (That's the first time I've tried that! Don't know if I'll go back to purchasing colored bling again, I'm just sayin.') Take a peek at the inside sentiment:

For my first Halloween card in ages, I really had fun making it! This was my first Meljen image, the first of many more to come! I hope all of you have a fun, but safe Halloween whether you're going out with your munchkins or attending adult parties. Me, I'll be at home handing out treats for a little while...It's hard to resist seeing the little ones in their costumes. Speaking of which, what was your most memorable costume?

Before I go, I just wanted to ask all of my readers to keep the people affected by Hurricane Sandy in your prayers. And I as promised, I wanted to announce the winner of the stamp set giveaway from my last post! Random.org gave me the number 2, so Jennifer Grace--you are the winner!! Please post your email address in the comments below so I can get this wonderful set to you! Thank you all for your comments! Until next time, take care, come back again soon...

My First Digi Stamp

Hi everyone! Hope you've had a fun and safe July 4th!! What did you do?? The weather here today alternated between scattered showers and above average temps. Plus hubby and part of my family still had to work today, so I spent a quiet day at home. It was okay, those definitely come in handy from time to time! So being festive with the holiday and all, I wanted to share a July 4th card I made today...using my FIRST digital stamp!!
Embossing Folder: Cuttlebug, Dies: Spellbinders
Patterned Paper: Reminisce, Sentiment: Northwood  Stamp Co.

Yes, I have switched to the dark side, lol...I never thought I would do it! Even though the images some of these companies have designed are totally awesome, the downloading, sizing, and storage seemed a little TOO techie for me! However, I finally just made up my mind to try one...one little digi to see if I could do it. If I messed up, I could easily go back to my pre-digi stamp existence, admiring all the cards and projects I've seen in various galleries from the sidelines.

The flag and fireworks image is a Robert Jackson digital image. I colored it with copics and highlighted the image with a few rhinestones. I'm submitting it in the 4th of July challenge over on SOC. For those of you out there still uncertain about trying digitals, give it a try! I'm definitely doing it again soon, but that means I have to really step up practicing with my copics! Now that will be a bigger mountain to challenge than using the digis....**groan, sigh** Y'all pray for me, lol

That's all I have for now...Take care!
