Hi everyone!! Hope you're enjoying beautiful fall weather right now! The leaves have reached peak color here in central NC, yet the temps are fairly warm with a hint of cool! I love everything about fall--back to school, the state fair, pumpkins, autumn sunsets and pulling out those warm sweatshirts! Mostly for me though, it's the leaves! So today I wanted to share a card I made tonight for a crafty pen pal.
Stamps: Penny Black, Northwoods, Flower Soft Autumn Chalk Ink, Color Box |
I wanted to try something different, so I made this into a 5x7 gatefold card!
I've seen lots of them in various galleries, but had never tried one. (I made it bigger than the A2 because I can chat up a storm for more writing room). Just in case you would like to try one, here are the specs:
Card Base: Start with a 10x7 in. piece of cardstock, score it vertically (from the left edge) at 2.5 in and 7.5 in.
To make the fall tree, I used a tree stamp and covered the image with the Flower Soft Autumn Mix. (I have had this stuff in my stash for quite some time now, and finally decided to crack it open...use that stash folks!!) As for the Autumn Greetings stamp, its one I've had in my collection for a couple of years now. It's a favorite that I pull out every autumn! Okay, so back to the card...just stamp your image, mat it if you like, then adhere the image to only one side of the card. Here I went with the left side, so I can still open it from the front. Stamp your sentiment (I added a ribbon), then you have a cool fall card! I hope my pen pal likes it!
I really enjoyed doing something "out of my comfort zone," and using new materials! I plan on making more of this style for Christmas cards!! If you give it a try, just come back and leave me a link below! I'd love to see your gatefold card creations! Well, that's all I have for you this time...thanks for stopping by!
